Acton Carnival 2018

by | Jul 21, 2018 | 0 comments

Saturday 14th July 2018 was the date of the annual Acton Carnival. The Acton carnival is growing in attendees, but with the Huddersfield carnival scheduled for the same day and the Derby carnival the following day, may have had a slight impact on crowds.

Nevertheless, Acton put on a carnival that saw the streets of Acton filled with spectators to support and watch the carnival procession. The carnival procession left at 12pm with costumes, music, and dancing through the streets all the way to Acton Park. With Masology Making Carnival leading the procession.

Tippa Audio Sound System

Carnival festivities continued throughout the park with, Audio Tippa Sound System providing the tunes at the other end of the park.

The main stage area, contained in the top end of the park, featured a vibrant celebration of culture and a community of acts that included, dance troupes, singers, performers, dance instructors and even poetry!

Watch the magnificent Mr. Reed in action as he recites some of his poetry.

A real family friendly event that continued in the park until 7pm, it was a fantastic event to support as there really was something for everyone.  What stood out for me was not only the performances, but the sellers that came to trade at Acton Carnival, and had found Kae’s Creations Ltd by chance. Her items are literally a-mazing and you can purchase her ready-made rhinestone flags. Customised, personalised or, a mixed country design, are on offer so visit her facebook site and check out her designs.

For a small team, a great carnival event was put on, bringing in a variety of acts from all communities. Acton carnival felt like a celebration of cultures and definitely worthy of a visit to support again next year.

Watch some of the performances below.
