The Soca Monarch had returned to the UK this year, rebranded as EUK Soca Monarch which also encompassed entrants from our European counterparts.
..and so after EUK Soca Monarch, came UK Unsigned, which offers a chance for the UK’s most talented artists to come out and showcase their respective artistic talents.
Coco P was part of the EUK Soca Monarch taskforce, which tirelessly worked to ensure that this competition was bought back to life and that winners of the competition could continue their musical journey. As one aspect of winning Soca Monarch was an automatic entry into the UK Unsigned competition. For the first time, the competition featured a Soca Category, thanks to the hard work of the EUK Soca Monarch team and to be honest it was about time that Soca, warranted recognition as a category, in its own right to compete in musical competitions. The growth of soca in particular in the UK has given rise to competitive participation at events.
UK Unsigned is an amazing charity that is organised by the SABA charity network, a UK registered performing arts charity. Over the past 20 years, UK Unsigned has become the biggest producer of showcases and talent development in the UK. Their aim is to:
“promote and develop unsigned UK based performers, giving them a platform to showcase their skills to the industry”.www.ukunsigned.org.uk/about-us
